Join Our Team as a Health Improvement Practitioner!

Are you a registered health professional looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic primary health care team? Aramoho Health Centre has a vacancy for a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) who is passionate about enhancing the well-being of individuals and their whānau.

As a HIP, you’ll provide immediate, evidence-based interventions aimed at improving mental and physical health. Your mahi will involve delivering brief psychological interventions, including Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT), and facilitating evidence-based group programs. Additionally, you’ll play a vital role in educating, advising, and supporting your colleagues across our practice.

Health Improvement Practitioners work as fully integrated members of the general practice team, supporting people to identify health-related concerns and collaboratively developing plans to help them reach their goals. This role is based on the behavioural health consultant model and has been adapted to our diverse New Zealand culture.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:

Embrace new ways of working and maintain a helpful, flexible, positive, and adaptable disposition.

Thrive in a busy, client-focused team environment and be able to work at a fast pace while maintaining a flexible schedule.

Hold active registration in one of the following health professions: Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, DAPAANZ registered clinician, counsellor with full NZAC membership, Psychotherapist, or Psychologist.

Have experience working with diverse patient groups of all ages and a basic understanding of how general practice works.

Qualifications or experience in CBT or ACT would be considered an advantage.

As a HIP, you’ll receive comprehensive training followed by six months of post-training support and mentorship. We strongly value your growth and development, providing additional professional development opportunities to support you in this role.
